Bharat Ratna is the India's highest civilian award. Officially before 2011, Bharat Ratna was given only to artistic, science and literary services in highest degree. But later the criteria was modified allowing the sports persons to receive the award. Sachin Tendulkar is the first and youngest sportsperson to get this honorable award.
The scientist C.N.R. Rao, Head of Scientific Advisory Council, was also conferred the award. Rao is 79 years old and has got about 60 honorary doctorates from various Universities around the world. The three predecessors to him to receive the award as a scientist are C.V. Raman, M. Visvesvaraya and A.P.J.Abdul Kalam.
Sachin marks an absolute inspiration to all young and enthusiastic minds.
